Supplemental College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP)

The legislature and governor earmarked $50,000 in the 2005-2007 budget to provide state grants to Washington colleges and universities participating in the federal College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). The state funds are designed to supplement funding for the federal program, which helps migrant and seasonal farm workers and their children go to college.

CAMP students receive orientation to college, instruction in study skills, one-on-one counseling, and financial aid. Most students are the first in their families to go to college and many are the first in their families to complete high school.

In 2006-07, the following four colleges and universities received state CAMP funding:

- Central Washington University
- Columbia Basin College
- Eastern Washington University
- Heritage University
