Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE)
Student Exchange Programs
Washington residents can enroll in eligible programs at reduced tuition rates through the WICHE programs in 14 western states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
Undergraduate students can enroll at participating two- and four-year colleges and universities. Students pay 150 percent of the receiving school’s resident tuition, a significant savings over nonresident tuition.
WUE Eligibility: To be eligible, you must be a Washington state resident. Some colleges and universities have additional criteria, (such as ACT/SAT test scores or high school grade point averages).
Western Regional Graduate Program
Graduate students can enroll in graduate programs at resident tuition rates.
Students can receive conditional loans to study optometry or osteopathy - two professional degree programs not offered in Washington. In return, participants agree to practice in a state shortage area. Due to budget cuts, applications will not be accepted in the upcoming year.
