Nita Rinehart

Appointed:  December 2008
Term expires:  June 2012

 

Nita Rinehart represented parts of Seattle in the Legislature from 1979 until 1996. She served one term in the House of Representatives and her remaining time in the Senate, where she chaired the Ways and Means Committee and a Higher Education Subcommittee.

After stepping down from her Senate seat in 1996, she became staff director for the Senate Democratic Caucus. She currently works as a faculty member at The Evergreen State College.

Ms. Rinehart received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Southern Methodist University in1962, a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Southern Methodist University in 1965, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1990.
